Dr. Amy Malphrus, a member of SpecialtyCare’s team of Online Monitoring Professionals, will be speaking at the International Workshop on Neurophysiology, Intraoperative Monitoring, and Neuropathic Pain in Cagliari, Italy, on April 12-13. Her topic, “Contribution of Neurophysiology in Clinical Neurology,” will describe how intraoperative neuromonitoring contributes to surgical outcomes and the postoperative neurologic examination. She will also discuss the selection of intraoperative monitoring modalities based on the procedure and neurologic diagnosis and review the use of EEG intraoperatively and in an outpatient setting.
Dr. Malphrus earned her undergraduate degree with honors from Oklahoma State University and her medical degree from the University of Oklahoma. After her residency in Pediatrics at the LeBonheur Children’s Hospital, University of Tennessee, she completed residency in Child Neurology at the Texas Children’s Hospital, Baylor College of Medicine. Dr. Malphrus received additional training during a fellowship in Clinical Neurophysiology at the Baylor College of Medicine and served there as an assistant professor. She holds board certifications in Clinical Neurophysiology, Epilepsy, and Neurology, with special qualifications in Child Neurology.
